Work Experience:

Semi-Retired

08/2017-present

Electronics Engineer

Raspberry PI. Arduino programming and hardware interfacing. Currently designing an antenna rotor controller to steer a 2-meter and 440 MHz yagi antennas to track Low Earth Obit (LEO) micro-satellites. Also working a Solar Panel Sun Tracker

Defense Logistics Agency Electronic Product Testing Center
12/2012 8/2017

Electronics Engineer

Upon customer demand, programmed read-only memories and programmable logic arrays in accordance with Altered Items Drawings. Designed and built test fixtures to test microcircuits on a test bench using oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable power supplies and multi-meters or on microcircuit testers. Programmed the testers using either the command line (CENTOS Linux) or through a GUI.

Defense Contract Management Agency
07/2010 - 12/2012

Electronics Engineer

Assessed contractor's (Boeing-Heath) performance to ensure compliance with contractual terms for schedule, cost and technical performance in the areas of design, development and production. Evaluate contractor's engineering efforts and management systems that relate to design, development, production, engineering changes, subcontracts, test, management of engineering resources, reliability and maintainability and configuration management. Evaluate and make recommendations for acceptance or rejection of waivers and deviations.

Battelle Memorial Institute
04/1999 - 10/2008

Principle Research Scientist

Designed a test set for relay panels for the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter using USB controlled digital I/O and solid state relays.

Part of a team that developed a new method of identifying biological agents suspended in aerosols. This involved the novel use of a Raman spectroscope optically coupled with a microscope, CCD camera, and laser. Designed the sample handler and wrote the software for the microscope stage control and stage illumination.

Extensive electronic and computer engineering design experience on a wide range of technologies. Designed battery powered op amp and comparator circuits for an anti-tamper project. Extensive experience in the design, testing and troubleshooting of the Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS). Performed the software testing for the JBPDS. Performing the electromagnetic susceptibility testing at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Performed JBPDS environmental testing at Wyle Labs. Supported the JBPDS Operational Test and Evaluation at Eglin AFB, FL and Dugway Proving Grounds, UT.

SelectTech Services
03/1997 - 04/1999

Research Scientist

Designed instrumentation at the Aircraft Survivability Facility at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The instrumentation recorded 40mm anti-aircraft shell fragment velocities. Wrote data reduction programs that calculated the fragmentation pattern and velocities of the fragments by correlating the timing data from the appropriate recorder channels.

Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Designed and built an antenna pointing controller for an airborne satellite communications radio using a VME computer. Wrote a program to receive pitch, roll and yaw information from an inertial navigation unit and altitude from an altimeter, format it onto a network to be sent to the control computer.
